Linda Sherman on Tonya Hall Radio Show

Tonya Hall and I discussed Social Business, Social Media in Japan, GooglePlus and why you should be on it.

It was delightful to be on Tonya’s show. She is smart and fun! The Tonya Hall Radio Show show is described as offering captivating interviews from industry movers and shakers that have mastered the power of Social Media and airs on the Bloomberg affiliate Radio Colorado Network. Recent interviewees include: Mark Fidelman, author of Socialized!; Ekaterina Walter, author of Think Like Zuck and Senior Social Media Strategist, Intel; Steve Garfield, author of Get Seen; Mitch Joel of Twist Image, and author Six Pixels of Separation; Scott Monty, Global Head of Social Media, Ford; Jay Baer, Convince and Convert, co-author, The Now Revolution, and Clark Kokich, Chairman, Razorfish and author Do or Die.

It is difficult to pick up links when you are listening to radio, especially when you are in your car, so here are some that I mentioned.

I referred to my upcoming session January 8th at BusinessNext Social to make a point about why it is best to keep your social media staff in-house. My session will be an interview by Dorie Clark of Forbes alongside Benjamin Moore and Dunkin’ Donuts. Dorie supports my point regarding the advantages of an in-house social marketing team in her recent Forbes article about how Nick Harris runs social media marketing at Benjamin Moore.

Tonya and I both had a strong interest in the March 2011 earthquake tsunami crisis in Japan. I discussed how responding to that incident fits into Japan finally moving onto Facebook this year and mentioned my resource article on social media during a crisis.

In my segment on why to get on GooglePlus I referred to Google Authorship and suggested you google how to pronounce karaoke. You’ll see my face next to my article, showing you an example of how Google highlights authors who have implemented Google Authorship in search results.

Tonya and I agreed that hiring a seasoned executive who is social business savvy is a better choice than choosing someone because they are young.
